5 Steps to Protect Your Vehicle Graphics in the Winter

Spread the love

When you invest in vehicle graphics, it’s because you’re knowledgably about the exceptional benefits they provide when considering brand awareness and identity. Memorable, quality vehicle graphics can make your business stand out from the crowd and easily convey your message to thousands of people daily.

Knowing this should encourage you to take the proper precautions in order to protect your vehicle graphics and remain a positive image in the mind of potential consumers. Poor weather conditions can damage your graphics; however, they don’t have to when you follow these tips!

Don’t Scrape the Car

In our cold Canadian weather, sometimes an ice scraper is essential. Nevertheless, when you have vehicle graphics, you must avoid using the ice scraper completely. Ice scrapers will likely damage the paint on your vehicle, along with the adhesive vinyl graphics. Instead, select a soft bristle broom or cloth to remove ice and snow.

Focus on Cleaning

Avoid letting road grime, snow or ice build up on your car. Once it builds up, you risk contaminating the graphics resulting in stains or discolouration. It’s essential for you to clean your vehicle graphics whenever you notice they’re dirty. Try sticking to a routine at least every 2 weeks. Ensure that you spot treat contaminants like bugs, bird droppings, tree sap and tar to avoid staining and damaging the signs.

Remove Salt

Salt needs to be removed from your vehicle as soon as you see it on the graphics. Unfortunately, if you leave the salt on your graphics for too long, it can cause corrosion. Wash the salt off your vehicle as best as you can before it rusts the car. Vehicle graphics don’t stick to rust, so it will likely peel off, making the graphics a redundant investment. Salt will also cause wear and tear on all graphics if left on the vehicle for too long.

Avoid Build-up

Avoid letting the snow sit on the car and turn into ice. Once it turns into ice, it can be hard to remove it without causing damage to the sign.

Park Vehicle in Garage

Obviously not everyone has a garage, but if you do, protect your vehicle wrap as much as possible by covering it from poor weather conditions.
